EMERGE is a MENA-rooted humanitarian and recovery organization helping children, families, and communities affected by crisis move from survival to recovery.
Built on decades of combined regional experience in humanitarian response, healthcare, mental health, education, community development, business, and leadership, EMERGE works across crisis response and protection, mental health and psychosocial support, child and family development, and economic recovery.
We serve people of all backgrounds, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality, or social status, through partnerships with community organizations, schools, clinics, local leaders, and faith communities.

Founding the healing workforce
The Trauma Healing Resource Center (THRC) is founded, focused on trauma-informed practitioner training for communities affected by war and displacement across the Middle East and North Africa.

To lead this broader mission, EMERGE International is established as the organization's parent entity. THRC's board formally places THRC's governance under EMERGE, with THRC continuing to hold the clinical and trauma-healing expertise it has built since 2020, now as EMERGE's founding affiliate.

Our Origin
Why EMERGE Was Established
EMERGE serves one of the world's largest crisis-affected regions, home to more than 500 million people across the Middle East and North Africa. The region has experienced decades of compounding crises, conflict, forced displacement, economic collapse, and the slow erosion of family and community systems. Tens of millions of people are living with trauma, grief, and the practical aftermath of crisis. Children are growing up without stability. Families are rebuilding without support.
The challenges facing the Middle East and North Africa are complex, deeply personal, and often long-lasting. Sustainable recovery requires more than short-term assistance; it requires approaches that are rooted in local communities, shaped by local experience, and delivered in ways that people trust and understand. EMERGE was established to build and strengthen those pathways from within the region, led by people with deep roots in the communities they serve.

What Defines Our Approach
Arabic-Language
Developed in Arabic and shaped by the realities of the region, rather than imported and translated from outside contexts. Counseling, psychoeducation, training, and public awareness in the language communities actually live in.
Trauma-Informed
All programs are grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed practice with ongoing clinical supervision, safeguarding standards, and quality oversight through THRC.
Recovery-Focused
Going beyond emergency relief to support long-term recovery measured in years, helping people move from immediate crisis toward lasting stability.

Built by practitioners, healthcare professionals, educators, humanitarian workers, community leaders, and local partners from across the region.

EMERGE was built on the belief that lasting recovery requires protection, wellbeing, strong families, and economic stability working together. Our approach connects these pathways so people can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
By equipping caregivers, teachers, pastors, counselors, and frontline workers with trauma-informed skills and ongoing supervision, EMERGE multiplies safe support throughout communities — long after direct assistance is gone, in places no organization can reach alone.
That is one of the reasons EMERGE's impact continues long after direct assistance ends.
